Hey everyone! I'v been playing violin for a few years now, but I’ve always struggle with getting my vibrato right. It either sounds too fast or too slow, and I can’t seem to control it consistently. Does anyone have any practice tips or excercises that worked for them? I want to make sure I'm using the right technique.
Hi! Vibrato is tricky, but the key is practice it slowly and gradually build up speed. One thing that really helped my students is to practice vibrato on open strings first, so you can focus on the motion without worrying about pitch. Once you're comfortable, move to a simple scale and use the same technique.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been trying wrist only vibrato and it feels so akward. How long did it take you to feel natural doing vibrato
It varies for everyone, but I’d say it took me a few months of dedicated practice to get it feeling natural. Just keep going at it every day, and don’t rush the process. Start with 5 minutes of vibrato practice in each session, and you’ll see progress.
Hi everyone! We love seeing this discussion. Just a reminder that our mentors are here to provide real-time feedback on techniques like vibrato during your virtual lessons. Recording yourself and asking for feedback from your tutor might help you identify what’s going well and what needs adjusting. Keep up the good work, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need more help!
I’ve been matched with an amazing tutor, but they’re in a different timezone, nd we’re struggling to find a time that works for both of us. Has anyone else dealed with this? How did you make it work?
Hey there! I’ve had this issue with a few students The key is communication. I suggest finding a time window that works for both of you and sticking to it weekly. Sometimes early mornings or late evenings are the only options, but once it becomes a routine, it’s easier to manage.
Also, don’t forget to take advantage of our integrated scheduling system on HarmonyConnect. It can show available times in both timezones so you can find a common slot.
Neha, thanks for reaching out! We understand that coordinating across time zones can be tricky, but it’s great that you're committed to finding a solution. As mentioned, the integrated scheduling system should display times in both your time zones, making it easier to see mutual availability. If needed, you can also adjust the frequency of your lessons (like meeting biweekly instead of weekly) to accommodate your schedules. Feel free to contact us directly if you’re still having trouble—we’re happy to assist!
